We have been looking at how we can improve access to Practice services; DoctorLink is our new online service where you can access advice, book appointments on line and request fit/sick notes, 24 hours hours a day, 7 days a week.

Symptom Assessment

For all urgent appointments, we ask that you undertake a symptom assessment through DoctorLink.  The symptom assessment will ask you a number of questions to help to identify your problem.

Assessment Outcome

The outcome of your assessment will direct you to the right treatment, whether emergency care, your GP, nurse or self-care (i.e pharmacy, dentist , physiotherapy). If your outcome indicates that an appointment is required at The Chorley Surgery, you will be able to book this direct through Doctorlink. If no appointments are available, you will see a ‘request an appointment’ button, please click this

Once the request has been submitted, you will then be contacted by the Practice Team, to arrange an appointment within the identified timeframe (as outlined in the outcome of your symptom checker).

Information Sharing

The information you provide will be shared with our clinical team (where appropriate) and will assist in providing robust information of your problem to the required clinical team member prior to your appointment.

Sign up is simple!

Frequently asked questions

Why are you changing to Doctorlink?

Everyone knows that Practices are being asked to do more and offer more services to patients. With the financial constraints that the NHS are experiencing, Doctorlink will help us:

-Provide 24/7 access to accredited medical advice and enable you to request appointments based on symptoms identified
-Remove the need to make that 8am call and queue to ask for an appointment
-Make sure we prioritise and patients clinical need appropriately
-Saves patients visiting the Practice when they don’t need to
-Provide high quality, fast clinical advice

2. Why can’t I just call the surgery?

We still encourage our patients to contact the surgery when required, especially those who do not have internet access. Where you are unable to use Doctorlink, you can still contact the Surgery via the usual telephone number 01257 513970

3. Is this about stopping me from seeing my GP?

No, this is about broadening access and reducing waiting times and assessing patient need to make sure appointments are available when you need to see a GP

4. Is the registration process complicated?

Not at all, all you need is your name, postcode, email and telephone number, the rest is pre-populated for you.

5. Do I need to be a registered patient?

Yes. To access appointments you need to have completed your registration process. Non registered (or not yet registered) patients can still use the symptom checker but will not be able to book an appointment.

6. So, I now have to log on via my laptop?

No, Doctorlink is available as a standard website but designed specifically to work well on tablet and mobile devices.

7. What about for people who don’t have internet access?

The usual methods of contacting the Practice will still be in place.

8. I already have online access. Will this link to my current online account for appointment bookings?

No. Doctorlink is not connected to your existing account. You can still use your existing Patient Access/MyGP if you wish.

9. Is the service free?

Yes, free to use but data charges may apply for mobile devices.
Most people have data included in their mobile packages

10. Is my data safe?

Yes. Please see details
