COVID-19 Vaccinations

News of a vaccination that shows effectiveness against coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has brought hope to millions of people across the globe. We are thrilled that so many people want to be vaccinated against this disease, as preventing infection is the only way to minimise its impact on our lives.

As yet, the vaccine has not been approved for use by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MRHA). Once the vaccine is approved for use in the UK, the JCVI will issue guidance about the groups of people who will be offered the vaccine in the first instance.

The process of deciding who receives vaccination first includes looking at those most at risk from the disease, but also at the levels of immunity achieved by vaccination.

Due to the regulatory process, stocks of the vaccination are not yet available, and we are currently unable to offer appointments for vaccination against coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). As soon as the vaccination has been approved and stocks are available for use, the Government will set out a plan to communicate with those who are eligible for vaccination.

When we receive further guidance, we will update you on the changing situation.
