A new variant of Covid-19 initially found in Liverpool, E484K, has been identified in Preston.
At this time, there is no evidence that this new variant causes more severe illness or is more transmissible.
However, the symptoms of this new variant are more similar to those of a common cold and it is important that anyone who is feeling unwell gets a COVID test: www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
