Protection against measles

The number of children catching measles is rising so it is important your child is fully protected.

Children have to have 2 doses of the MMR vaccine to be fully protected. If your child hasn’t had both doses they could be at risk for catching measles.

Measles is a very infectious disease. It spreads quickly and easily – just a cough or sneeze can spread the measles virus to other people.

One in 10 children with measles will need hospital treatment because they might develop serious complications.

The MMR vaccination is a safe way to protect your child. You will be protecting them against mumps and rubella, which can also be serious illnesses.
